Our I Love Earl's Court Save It From Demolition Day was a great success! Donations to our cause were generous and we were able to raise awareness that the proposed demolitions are not a done deal! Darren Johnson AM, Chair of the London Assembly pledged his full support for our campaign and told us to keep fighting.
Local businesses showed their support for keeping the Earl's Court Exhibition Centres open by putting up artist Duggie Field's specially designed posters in their windows and inside their premises. Some also requested our donation boxes. Darren Johnson AM, Chair of the London Assembly proposed a motion at the 9th October 2013 London Assembly plenary session condemning the Eric Pickles and Mayor Boris Johnson's approval of the Earl's Court and West Kensington Opportunity Area plans. It was seconded by Nicky Gavron AM. The meeting took place at City Hall, London. The motion passed. Watch the full debate video below |
